So I've been looking all over this great big internet of ours to find a good VoIP software, or Software to use my Google Voice number like I can on my computer (sending and receiving). Having read about this software, I thought with the use of this software, I could do the same time on my phone over my WiFi.

Installion, went fine, no issues there.
Added my user name and password. Fine
Callback Number: Not sure why this is needed if I'm using my Google Voice number to make and receive calls via WiFi.
Home, Mobile, Work, Gizmo: Again unsure why this is needed if using my GVoice number.

I guess my question in this, Can you make and receive calls with this software using only GVoice number over WiFi? If not, then it's pointless if it does not function like the website, allowing me to make and receive calls while the software is running, and I have WiFi connection. :/

It has been a while, but I finally just got back to this thread and wanted to say thank you for resolving the issue I posted. I am impressed with support provided considering that the program is distributed for free. The new app is working fine. Unfortunately Google voice is refusing to place the calls I try to make but I do not think that is an issue with the program. Thanks again.

Hi Guys,

I am having similar problems. Started out just like Grant said above. Installed everything smoothly except for PIPS and SSL files, which were already in my E72 (1.07 version as opposed to 1.06 available thru the link for download). BTW, I am running original firmware without any software updates b/c I heard some not very pleasing things about the upgrade and going thru the hassle of upgrading was too much. I am not able to place calls or send sms either. After reboot, when I discovered the malfunction, I also reverted from 1.07 to 1.06 version of the PIPS just to make sure that was not the issue. well, it was not, and the problem is still there...

When I launch the app, the main screen says "Too many contacts in db. specify search parameter." When I hot cancel, I go to the next main screen it says that no contacts were found! BUT when i go to Options then Search Contacts, and type in a name from my contacts, I actually get the contact pulled up! when I try to make a call, it says Contacting Google voice, Please Wait, and then says An Error Has Occurred, Details Have Been Logged. Any ideas how to make the app work?

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Almeladze

i am using an E71 and trying to use GoogleVoiceForS60 to call my work phone which requires me to punch in some more numbers after connection. i found out that there were only 2 ways to input these numbers after the connection: exit the application and start typing or go back to the phone's home page and then start typing. it would be more intuitive to be able to input these numbers without leaving the application. thank you.

Bump.
I just found this app.
I'm looking for a way to get notified when I get an SMS to my GV that doesn't involve email forwarding..

Ideal use case scenario is the app integrates with the phone's native SMS and related settings Eg. tones / vibrate

I'll settle for just getting a popup via the OS at this point though..

I'm an E72 owner and do software testing. If you need help testing a fix let me know.

Hello,

I am having almost the exact same issue (although I also have it with the kinetic scrolling bug in python), except that I am using the Nokia 5800.

After I select any access point the application exits with no error. It just returns to the Applications directory. Choosing SMS or Call does the same thing.

I am wondering if there is any special formatting for the Google Voice account settings, but I've tried everything and it keeps terminating. Is it worth it to downgrade to attempt to see any results?

Thanks,
Oliver

Yes, when I do, it crashes at that point too.

It also crashes when I choose "back" from the options screen.

When I say "crashes" I mean the same thing as in the original post - where the app just seems to close without any error message.

And, yes, "<cut>" just indicates the beginning and end of content in the debug file.

I just installed the GoogleVoiceForS60 app, and its crashing when I select an access point.

I'm using an E72 with sw version 031.023 (31-mar-2010), custom version 031.023.244.02 (22-apr-2010).

I first installed the list of packages. I noticed that the phone already had newer versions of ssl.sis and pips.sis

PIPS Installer -> website 1.06(0), phone 1.07(4)
Open C LIBSSL -> website 1.06(0) phone 1.07(0)

.. so I didn't install those. Stdioserver.sis went on without problems, and I installed GoogleVoiceForS60.sis. I rebooted the phone.

If I attempt to send an SMS or make a call, the app just exits, without any error message. I saw the instructions about enabling debugging in another post, so I did that and here is the output from it.

06/28/10 12:14:47	Returning access point name

---<cut>---

So, it looks like the app crashes when it attempts to use or select the access point. One thing I noticed different about the recent SW update to the E72 was the inclusion of SmartConnect since the email application doesn't use the new "Internet" automatic connection destination. So, I guess they contracted with BirdStep to give us E72 users the SmartConnect app as a workaround for automatically switching between wifi and carrier internet. I don't know if this has anything to do with the crashing...

Hello,

I tried to follow the instructions below without success so I tried installing ssl.sis, stdioserver.sis and pips.sis. I am still recieving a Certification error and it won't install .7.27 on the phone.

1. Download and install the PyS60 2.0.0 runtime
2. Download and install GoogleVoiceForS60_0.7.27_merged.sis

I may be sending this prematurely since I received the phone today and am not completely familar with it yet. To me it sounds like the SSL isn't installing properly. I tried re-installing but can't get Google Voice to install. Do you have any sugestions on what I should try next?

Model: E63-2

SIP is an ASCII-based, application-layer control protocol that can be used to establish, maintain, and
terminate calls between two or more endpoints. Like other VoIP protocols, SIP is designed to address
the functions of signaling and session management within a packet telephony network. Signaling allows
call information to be carried across network boundaries. Session management provides the ability to
control the attributes of an end-to-end call.

Any firmware with kinetic scrolling support (including V50 for 5800) will break the listbox scrolling in python. This issue has to be fixed in the python runtime and unfortunately Nokia devs are dragging their feet on this one.

Sometimes I wonder if they even use Nokia phones themselves as this has been broken since version 1.9.7 (released in August 2009) and any python app that uses listboxes is essentially broken and unusable. Maybe they all use the latest Nokia 2100 phones...

At this point all I can do is swear at them and hope that someday it might be fixed ;-)

Do you have any idea if this was fixed in S60 V50? Seeing how it has yet to have an NA release, I can't verify it for myself, but I was wondering if any international users have confirmation one way or the other.
