Open Database Format

BDC 2.1 uses an open database format to store its data. It means goodbye to proprietary, difficult to access data and welcome to open and easy-to-share data store. Our users are able to access directly or import all of the available information, including all of customer history, from a variety of popular third party tools like Microsoft Excel or Seagate Crystal Reports for data analysis or post processing.

Following connectivity options are available:

• ODBC - Open Database Connectivity. Most database tools support ODBC drivers.
• OleDB - Microsoft database drivers. Used mostly by developers.
• BDC API - Our business data access layer. Third party developers can write extensions for BDC 2.1 using our own API.
